SparkyMate’s Sparky AI and calculators provide general information only. Sparky AI responses are generated by an AI system and may be inaccurate or incomplete, including any clause numbers they mention. This is not professional advice and is not a substitute for a licensed electrician or the official AS/NZS standards. Always verify information against the current official standard and consult a qualified electrician before undertaking any electrical work. Electrical work can be dangerous and is legally regulated.

1. General information only
The SparkyMate application (the “App”) provides general information and tools to assist electricians and apprentices, including an AI assistant (Sparky AI), trade calculators, community chats and job folders. It does not provide professional, engineering, legal or safety advice, and nothing in the App should be relied on as such. The information is provided “as is” and “as available”.
2. You are interacting with an AI system
Responses in the App are generated by an artificial intelligence system. AI systems can produce information that is inaccurate, incomplete, out of date, or wrong, even when it appears confident and plausible. You must independently verify any information before relying on it.
Where a response mentions a clause number, table or other reference to a standard, that reference comes from general information, has not been checked against the standard and may be wrong or out of date. Sparky AI can also misread photos, and it cannot confirm from a photo that an installation or any work is safe or compliant.
3. Calculators
The App’s calculators use publicly available physical formulas and the values you enter. Results are only as accurate as your inputs and assumptions, and may not account for every installation method, site condition or other factor that applies to your job. Where a calculation needs a value that is published only in a standard, you must enter it yourself from your own current, licensed copy of that standard. Treat every result as indicative and check it against the current official standard before relying on it.
4. Content from other users
Messages, photos and advice posted by other users in the App’s chats reflect their own views and experience, not ours, and are not checked by us. Licence and apprentice tags on user profiles are based on what users tell us and are not verified. Treat anything another user tells you with the same care as any other unverified source.
5. Not a substitute for a licensed electrician
The App does not replace the judgement of a licensed or qualified electrician. In Australia and New Zealand, much electrical work must, by law, be carried out or supervised by an appropriately licensed or registered electrician. You are responsible for ensuring that any work is lawful, safe, and performed by an appropriately licensed and competent person.
6. Verify against the official standards
The App does not reproduce, and is not a substitute for, the Australian/New Zealand Standards (including AS/NZS 3000). The App does not contain the text of any standard. You must obtain and refer to the current official standards, published by Standards Australia, and to manufacturer instructions and all applicable laws, regulations and codes, before undertaking any work.
7. Safety
Electrical work is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury, death, fire or property damage. If you are in any doubt, do not proceed — engage a licensed electrician. In an emergency or where there is immediate danger, contact emergency services.
8. No warranty
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no representations or warranties, express or implied, about the accuracy, completeness, reliability, currency or fitness for any purpose of the information provided by the App.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SparkyMate Australia Pty Ltd and its directors, employees and contractors are not liable for any loss, damage, injury or cost of any kind arising from or in connection with your use of, or reliance on, the App or any information it provides.
Nothing in this disclaimer excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that applies under the Australian Consumer Law or other law and cannot lawfully be excluded. Where our liability can be limited under such law, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted.
10. Your responsibilities
By using the App you acknowledge and agree that: the App provides general information only; you will independently verify all information, including calculator results and anything posted by other users, against the current official standards; you will not enter the text of any standard, photos of its pages, or other copyrighted or confidential material into the App; and you remain solely responsible for all decisions and work you undertake.
